Ryanair is clamping down on cabin baggage, and from 3 November 2025, stricter enforcement is coming to a gate near you. If you want to avoid hefty fines and last-minute baggage headaches, here’s your must-read guide.
New Cabin Baggage Rules
Non-Priority Passengers:
- One small personal item only
- Max size: 40 x 30 x 20 cm
Priority & 2 Cabin Bags Fare:
- One small personal item (40 x 30 x 20 cm)
- Plus one larger cabin bag up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm, 10 kg max
Passengers exceeding these limits on Ryanair flights may face fines up to £75 to check oversized bags into the hold.
Staff Incentives
Ryanair is increasing staff bonuses for spotting oversized cabin bags—€2.50 per bag, up from €1.50, and the previous monthly cap of €80 has been removed. This incentive will obviously encourage staff to be extra vigilant in identifying passengers with oversized bags.
Tips to Breeze Through the Gate
Measure Your Bag – Don’t rely on “eyeballing” it. Use a tape measure.
Upgrade If Needed – Priority & 2 Cabin Bags fare can save you fines and stress.
Stay Informed – Ryanair updates its baggage rules regularly; keep an eye out.
With stricter enforcement becoming the norm, packing smart is the easiest way to save money, avoid fines and keep your journey stress-free.
