Aeroplane cabins are noisy places, with crying babies, chatty passengers and the constant hum of the engines.
Firstly, plan your flight well in advance. Don’t choose a seat near the bulkhead. This is where cots and babies congregate so it’s a high noise area.
Secondly, avoid choosing a seat near the toilet or the galley area where there will be plenty of noise and traffic.
Noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs will then eliminate any remaining noise. If you don’t like putting things in your ears, try a hoodie, beanie, or a sleep mask with soundproofing to muffle sound.
Alternatively, white noise apps or calming playlists can drown out distractions, while deep breathing techniques aid relaxation.
If cabin pressure changes make noise more noticeable, swallowing frequently, chewing gum, sucking on a sweet, or yawning can help equalise your ears and reduce discomfort. Creating a quiet environment ensures better rest and a more peaceful journey.
Safe travels!
